What macOS version does CapnMark require?

CapnMark requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. It is fully compatible with macOS Sonoma (14) and macOS Sequoia (15).

How do I take a screenshot?

Press Control + Shift + S from anywhere on your Mac. CapnMark will let you drag to select any region of your screen.

How is CapnMark different from macOS's built-in screenshot tool?

Apple's built-in screenshot tool only captures images. CapnMark adds a full annotation editor — arrows, text, numbered callouts, shapes, highlights, and blur — and exports directly to clipboard or PNG without extra steps.

Is CapnMark free?

Yes. CapnMark is a free download on the Mac App Store with no subscription, no ads, and no in-app purchases.

Why does CapnMark ask for screen recording permission?

macOS requires the Screen Recording permission for any app that captures screen content. CapnMark uses this solely to capture your selected screen region — no content is ever stored or transmitted.

How do I save or copy my annotated screenshot?

After annotating, use the export toolbar to save as a PNG file or copy the image directly to your clipboard for pasting into any app.

Can I undo an annotation?

Yes — use Command + Z to undo your most recent annotation at any time while in the editor. See all keyboard shortcuts.

Does CapnMark collect any of my screenshot data?

No. CapnMark processes everything locally on your device. No screenshots, annotations, or personal data ever leave your Mac. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I blur sensitive information before sharing?

Select the Blur tool from the annotation toolbar, then drag over any area you want to redact. The region will be blurred in the exported image.

Can I use CapnMark at work?

Yes. The Mac App Store license covers personal and commercial use. Because CapnMark processes everything locally and never transmits data, it is safe to use with sensitive work screenshots.
